Canadian Dental Care Plan

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a public plan administered by the federal government.

Oral health professionals play a crucial role in providing oral health care. This unprecedented financial assistance program will help more people receive dental care.

For beneficiaries:

The eligibility criteria for the SDCP for beneficiaries have been determined by the federal government:

- Not have access to dental insurance
- Have an adjusted net family income of less than $90,000
- Be a resident of Canada for tax purposes
- Have filed an income tax return for the previous year

Individuals with access to dental coverage through a provincial social program may also be eligible for the SDCP if they meet all of the eligibility criteria. In this case, coverage will be coordinated to avoid duplication and gaps in oral health care.

Individuals must register for the program according to an age-specific schedule that is available on the Government of Canada website. Starting in mid-December 2023, letters will be sent to individuals who may be eligible. These letters will include a personalized application code and instructions on how to submit an application.

Registrants will receive a membership card proving their membership, allowing professionals to verify whether or not they are covered. An information package will also be sent to beneficiaries.

An annual reassessment process ensures continued eligibility with a grace period to accommodate changes during processing.
